Are you having trouble putting your prayers into words? Have you ever wondered about different kinds of prayers that the pastors write each week? Would you like to be strengthened and comfort your spirit during Advent? Join Barbara for this short virtual prayer writing time while you prepare to start your day. Each session will begin with a short reading of an Advent prayer, text or hymn. Participants will then be invited with writing prompts to write their own prayers based on the themes of patience, journey, and hope. No one will be asked to share their writing; this time is simply a time to think about prayer in new ways and gather with others in the community for a time to focus on your prayer life.
This series is virtual, zoom information can be found in our First Matters newsletter. For more information about meeting times and how you can get involved contact Rev. Dr. Barbara Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Grief Support Group meets monthly and is a guided discussion group for those grieving the loss of a loved one. Together, we explore what it means to live with grief and try to understand more deeply what Christianity has to say about coping in the face of pain and death. By leaning on our faith and one another, we can learn so much about ourselves through the journey of grief. If you are interested in attending or learning more, contact Hannah Faye Allred at email@example.com.
Many are feeling weary, lonely and anxious in this time of pandemic and unrest in our country. This can leave us emotionally, physically and spiritually depleted. Join Barbara for this series of monthly conversations about how prayer and hope can renew our spirits and build resilience, bringing new energy to our daily lives. To learn more, contact The Rev. Dr. Barbara Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Presbyterian Senior Services was founded in 1962 to serve the aging population within the Presbyterian Church community. It is now a flourishing non-profit that aims to strengthen the capacity of older New Yorkers, their families, and communities to thrive by offering resources, events, and seminars, for aging adults. First Church is delighted to be a partner with PSS in bringing these many opportunities to our members. Be sure to check our calendar to register for the latest PSS events hosted here at First Church, either virtually or in our building.
